Ancient Baking!
By the three pyramids in Giza, people would work at a bakery. The workers would bake bread for the people who were building the pyramids. They cooked the dough in pots of hot ashes. The yeast would make the bread rise, but the Egyptians thought the power of the gods would rise the bread. They first off starting making the bread dough by mixing water and flour. Next, they preheat the pots over a fire, then they start baking the bread with the hot ashes inside to cook it. They then let the bread cool and it was ready to be served! There was a problem. Small pieces of the grinding stones would get in the bread dough and would bring the Egyptians dental diseases! If you were starving, would you take the risk and eat the bread and get a dental disease?

Kylie, this was very interesting! I can see why the Egyptians would think that their gods were causing the bread to rise, can you? And I had no idea about the dental diseases being caused by the stones...fascinating!
