The Evolution of Farm Plants

So far what I have most interesting in are Ancient World text book is how are ancient ancestors when they started farming slowly grew "wild" plants into what we know now.  At first the plants were mealy and much smaller than what we know now for example corn at first was only about 1 inch long then slowly after years and years of only replanting the longest, strongest, and tastiest corn. After years of using this process they grew an equivalent of what we know now. This raises a very interesting questions if we keep on evolving and evolving farm plants will we grow plants that are keep on getting bigger and bigger to the point where they are extremely large like in cloudy with a chance of meatballs?at one point in the future could a ear of corn feed a whole family?     I think that's extremely interesting. One corn ear feeding a whole family! My question is if one ear of corn could feed a whole family, then one ear of corn could ruin a family too. If a corn ear fell, imagine the horror! It's exactly what happen in Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, the food ruined the whole town. Can you imagine what would happen if that movie became reality?

    I never really thought of that it does raise some interesting questions also if these plants were so large then what would happen to the surrounding soil? Were it be able to evolve to? to take up the strain of the larger plants?
