-I have read from Junhyoung's post about adoption in Africa, and
realized everyone thinks that they are through the racist era and no one is
racist. However this is not true. Maybe everyone isn't racist but they are
still uncomfortable. Junhyoung described so well what would happen if an American
family adopted a child from an African orphanage. People would give him strange
looks, or need to take a while to process it, people still aren't used to the
idea of Africans in our families. Many groups are saying to stop African Adoption. People are used to thinking a family must have
one skin color. If you see a family with Americans and one African, you would
think a little about them. Give them a little more thought then the other
families walking past you everywhere around you. Don't lie most of you do this,
you single out a couple people, analyze them, think, then go off on your merry
way doing other things. Be honest, if you saw a family with two Americans and one
African, would you not think as to why this would be, or give them a little
more attention than the other families walking by you?

I would pay more attention to the family with two Americans and one African. In eight years, half of the adopted children from Africa were born in Ethiopia. The majority of the adopted children go to either the US or France. The adoption numbers have drooped throughout the world because of major disasters and droughts. In 2010 the Haiti earthquake caused adoption levels would drop. Do you think that adoption levels will drop in the near future?
ReplyDeleteI think the adoption rate would rise in the near future.
