Festival Of Lights

The festival of lights takes place in IndiaDiwali,or Dipawali, is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row of clay lamps that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects us from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians. I think this festival is really interesting because basically everyone in India does it. In this Video they talk about when is best to go , and wake up for the festival of lights.

  1. I celebrate Diwali at home! I think Diwali is really fun! Diwali is an ancient holiday that even the ancient Indians used to celebrate(and still do) in autumn. Before Diwali day, people clean and renovate their houses. During the night of Diwali, Hindus wear their best outfits and light divas(or handmade candles and lamps) Diwali extends over a 5 day period, and it (Diwali) means the "festival of lights" because the Hindus celebrated the victory of light over darkness! Do you think that celebrating Diwali would be fun?

  2. The Festival of lights is very interesting to me. The people get up early to celebrate this holiday, like Americans on Christmas. A cool thing about this festival is it is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, and Sikhs. This reminds me once again of Christmas. Christmas was first for the Christians but not just about every kid (in America) celebrates it. I think that this holiday would be fun.
