Doctors Without Borders; Racist?
As I was looking at Eddie's post on Doctors Without Borders, I noticed that the interesting part was the racist part of the Doctors Without Borders campaign. Although, it's all good about the treating of Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Meningitis, Kala Azar, Sleeping Sickness, and other diseases. They go around undeveloped countries, like Malawi, Sudan, Ethiopia, other parts of Africa, and SE Asia, to help people stay alive, and to get rid of their diseases, to not spread any further. They give vaccines and antibiotics to people, and give nutritious food to people. They also won a Nobel Prize, in 1999. But, they've been very racist, like making false accusations of the Ethiopian Government, rejecting to cure a group of Rwandan people in Tanzania because they were the same ethnic group as a Rwandan Genocide group. They also made a rant about the South African National Staff not doing much funding and etc. So, they get kicked out of these countries. My question is, weren't they supposed to ignore racism in the beginning? Weren't they supposed to go around undeveloped and just cure people?
