Adopting Children From Africa: The Pros and the Cons
After reading Mathew H's post about people adopting children from Africa, I've become interested in the topic because I can see so many good and bad things in conflict. For example an american family has adopted an African child from an African orphanage. Although to most they think adopting a child is a good thing, but I can see come negatives aspects. For instance, some people could think it strange to adopt a child of a different race and the child could be met with rude stairs and looks. This child could feel very humiliated, and feel like he or she doesn't belong there which is never a really good thing. The good aspect is that adopting these children is that some of these children are abused in some orphanages with horrible conditions. Adopting them gets these orphaned children away from these horrible people, and giving them a new life. What do you agree with?

What I get from this is that, we as a people still aren't used to Africans. Just the mere suggestion that they might feel humiliated as the only African in an American family proves this. We are used to them in everyday life by themselves. However we aren’t used to the idea that there are Americans and Africans living in one family. In a town square if a family like that passed you by, would you not give them a little more thought then the hundreds of other families passing you by?
