The Sahara Desert

The Sahara Desert is one of the hottest deserts on earth.  It is also the third largest. At over 9,400,000 square kilometers (3,600,000 sq. mi), it covers most of North Africa , making it almost as large as China or the United States.  It covers Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Eritrea, Libya, Mali,Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Sudan, and Tunisia.  Some of the sand dunes can reach up to 590 feet tall.  The name “Sahara” is Arabic for desert.  So would you ever want to visit this place.

  1. I would never visit there i would need so much water. Walking in sand is also torture if you have to walk a mile or longer. You can relate to that because of walking in Pentwater to Nolan's beach house and it is not fun walking 3 miles in the sand! To see a large desert like that it would blow my mind. How many gallons of sand would that be?
