In Africa, there is a distinctive fly that causes a lot of
problems. It is called the Testy Fly (Tsetse.). This fly is basically a
giant mosquito. It feasts on your blood to survive. But, that’s not the
half of it! Once it feasts on your blood, it transmits a deadly protozoan
called African trypanosomiasis.
This protozoan can use its flagella to move around in the blood stream,
infecting red blood cells. Thus, making the victim sleepy. They soon
fall into a coma and die. So, I don’t know about you, but point me in the direction
of California! This is some more info about sleeping sickness. Tell me, would you visit Africa, knowing you might be bitten by these horrible things?
