Launching Into Space!
Have you ever seen a real life space-launching center? Well, if you ever happen to travel to Central Asia, specifically Kazakhstan, you can see one! The Baikonur Cosmodrome is the largest space-launch center in the world! The first artificial satellite was launched in 1957 from there with many other historical spaceflights later in time. The first mission to put a human in space happened there in 1961. Also, in 2003, the Mars Express launched from Baikonur. There was also a Call of Duty: Black Ops (A video game) map inspired by this launch center. Would you guys like to visit this site one day?

This space launcher is pretty cool. If you were on top you would be so scared.
ReplyDeleteI would love to visit this sight someday! I also did my blog post about this fascinating site. I think that it is really cool that it is the biggest space-launch center in the world and was the launched the first artificial satellite. Did you know that this space station was named the Baikonur to mislead people of the exact location of the launch pad? Baikonur is a small town about 200 miles northeast of this major space station.
ReplyDeleteGreat little nugget of info, Mel!
