The "lost city" of Petra.
If you had to pick a place to visit in the Middle East a good choice would be Petra. Petra is an ancient city which once was a thriving trade center and the capital of the Nabataean empire in 400 BC and AD 106. Petra was once a "lost city" until it was found in 1812 by a Swiss explorer named Johann Ludwig Burckhardt. The inside of Petra has many caves made with stone that are very beautiful. Petra basically has many historical attributes, but even if you aren't really interested in history it is very cool and is neat to visit. Also in the movie Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade one of the buildings that they go to is based off of what Petra looks like. Of course nothing they do in that movie is really accurate, but it is cool that they base something in a fictional movie off of something in real life. Why do you think movie makers would put something real into a fictional movie?

The first time I read this, my mind instantly thought about Pompeii. Now that I research deeper though, I've found that its actually quite different. I saw a picture with a person standing in front the huge doorway of already a colossal sandstone structure. I think that the movie's creators (Steven Spielberg and George Lucas) would include this "Lost City" in their film because the movie is centered around the natives' religion, black magic, and secret burial tunnels.
ReplyDeleteSorry guys...couldn't resist after reading what you both wrote about the movies. And being a huge fan of both of those screenwriters, I felt like this needed to be tossed out there. Check this out! (I think you will have to copy and paste the link into your browsers.)

I believe that why the movie makers would put the "lost city" in the movie Indiana Jones is because they thought it would make the movie come to life, and they wanted to keep the movie interesting with historical places! I really want to visit the “lost city”, it seems very historical and there are probably many historical figure there, such as ancient writing and artifacts! Did they ever find artifacts there or any ancient drawing or writings?
