South Asia in the Olympics
The countries of South Asia have a very varied history in the Olympic Games. Some, like India are consistently extremely competitive in certain sports, whereas other countries, like Bhutan have yet to win a medal. Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal have never taken home a gold, silver or bronze. Sri Lanka has taken home two medals, both silver in athletics. The first came in 1948 in London in the men's four hundred meter hurdle. The second one came in 2000 in Sydney in the women's two hundred meter hurdle. Field Hockey is by far India's dominant sport, laying claim to eight of the nine gold medals the country has taken home, one of the six silvers and two of the twelve bronze. Their first field hockey medal came in 1928 Pakistan is also dominant in Field hockey with all three golds, all three silvers and two of four bronzes in the sport. All and all, South Asia is becoming increasingly dominant in the Olympics and so the question remains-what will they win next?

I never heard that India even got a Gold Medal in the Olympics, because when I heard of India in sports, I thought about polo, cricket, and curry-eating competition. Other than that, I never heard of field hockey! In addition to the field hockey, India is really strong in shooting too. They won four medals total, 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze. This is the next most medals total that India has, and I thought that only Eastern Asian countries were good like South Korea, China, and Taiwan. So, to answer your question, I think shooting is next on the list for India.
