Where are the lions?
The Pantera lions of West Africa are now an endangered species. Right now there are fewer than 250 adult breeding lions left, and they are listed under the critically endangered species. In 2005 a survey was taken that showed that the Panthera lived in 21 protected areas, but now they only live in four of these protected areas. These lions are very unique and have a very special genetic code. Also the lions are culturally symbolic. To the government and the people they represent pride, and some of the West African countries use them as their coat of arms. Many plantations such as cotton and food crop plantations have contributed, and also the many poachers and hunters. Sadly the funding needed to help conserve the lions is not being provided. A lot of the countries in West Africa just don't have enough of the money they need to help save the lions. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature says that the international community will need to work together to help them conserve the lions. What do you think should be done in this situation?

In this situation, I think less lions should be caged up and kept in zoos, and more people should be careful around lion country, lest they anger the lions and have to protect themselves. I've looked into this article, and one thing I've noticed is that many people eat lion among many other types of "Bush Meat" because they either want to "connect to their past" or can't afford normal food altogether. This post has really caught my attention, considering there are very few lions left.
