Saving Lives With Nets
Malaria is a mosquito borne disease that gives its victims fevers, chills, and flu like symptoms, often ending in death, for instance in 2010, 219 million people died from malaria and 91% of those people got the disease in Africa. And according to nothingbutnets.net an African child dies every 60 seconds, although this is extremely sad an organization called Nothing But Nets in South Sudan is trying to help. With a small donation they send insecticide-treated bed nets that kids and families can place over them while they sleep so they will not get malaria. I think that this program is awesome and is really great that people want to help and rid the world of malaria. So, what do think about malaria and the Nothing But Nets program? If there is something that you think should be added to the program comment below and spread the word about Malaria.

Wow Brett! This is an amazing article that you have written. Did you also know that five species of plasmodium that can infect and be transmitted by humans. Also did you know that in 2010 there were 660,000 to 1.2 million that were killed by this disease. Thank you so much for sharing this with me Brett!! Thank you and have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI never knew how deadly those little summer pests were. If I had known earlier I would have joined Nothing But Nets way back! How do the bed nets work? Are they mesh or a larger size? Also, the fact that 219 million people were killed by this is astonishing and terrible! Did you know that mosquitos can produce over 200 eggs in two days! But the real question is "How many mosquitos are infected with malaria. All of them. Or only some."
