Drones Doing More than Slave Away for the NSA?
At the Ol Pejeta wild animal reserve in South Africa they have taken a new step towards saving endangered rhinos, and other animals lives from poachers. With money raised from a crowd funding source called Indiegogo they have raised enough money to buy a small light weight drone that can monitor the animals when and where the rangers can't. The drone is equipped with a camera that can see in both day and night and in one run it can scan of over 50 miles in under 90 minutes. The rangers hope that these new precautions will stop poaching before it can begin and ease the strain on their limited workforce. It's really sad that so many people want to take these animals! There are lots of endangered animals on this reserve, like the White Rhino, and it's not right that people are willing to hurt them just to gain more money. I'm glad the communities want to do something about it. The drones seem like a great idea to me, not a scam at all! (I don't actually see how it even could be a scam...) This way, even with only 190 workers on this huge piece of land, the animals could be safe.
