Malaria. What is it?

A lot of you have probably heard about Malaria on the news or the radio, and haven't really paid that much attention to it because it doesn't really seem like a big deal. The thing is though, it's actually really important. Malaria is a blood disease caused by the parasite, Plasmodium, which is can be found in an ordinary mosquito. Most commonly when you get malaria fever, sweats, chills, nausea, and headaches/body aches. That's only some of the common effects. There are many different strains of Malaria which can cause a lot more severe symptoms, and even death. One time someone from the UK almost died from it! As you can see Malaria is very dangerous and can be fatal. Luckily Africa is doing it's best to try and put nets on things and spray repellent everywhere, especially on crops. This is good, but I don't think that a lot of people understand Malaria and it's risks and don't really seem to care, How do you think we should spread awareness for Malaria?

    Trust me malaria is a deadly disease. My cousin has gotten it once. Actually it was just a couple months ago. There are already many organizations that are trying to spread malaria awareness. I think one of the best things we can do is to support those organization or we could go online. That is the best way to spread the word since people are online almost 24/7. The malaria organizations are trying to get money to donate to people in Africa. Like they are collecting money to buy and send mosquito nets, and they're trying to clean up the many different communities too. The Gates Foundation is trying to eradicate malaria by 2015 but I think it would be more realistic to eradicate it by 2030.
