Have you ever noticed how odd Greek gods act? Don't get me wrong, I love Greek gods, but some times they over react or problem solve in weird ways. Like the time Athena and Arachne had competed in a weaving contest. The ladies were evenly as good, so Athena got mad and ripped up Arachne's piece. Then Arachne was so scared she tried to hang herself! Then Athena felt bad and turned her into a spider. They say that is what made spiders have beautiful webs, but if this were real, why wouldn't Athena turn her back human after saving her from death, now she was a spider for the rest of her life!
Also have you noticed how cruel and blood thirsty they act! One story, one lady boasted that she was better than Leto (Artemis and Apollo's mom) because Leto had 1 daughter and 1 son, while she had 7 of each. Well Apollo and Artemis were so mad they KILLED 6 of her daughters and 6 of her sons. See what I mean, they could have done it a different way i'm sure, but they killed 12 innocent children.
One last thing, have you notice that almost all the gods and goddesses cheat, a lot. I mean Zeus married Hera in the beginning of the stories, but in one of my Greek Myths and Legends book, I have a 2 page section named "Zeus's Lovers", in it they showed 6 different ladies Zeus loved. The worst part was, a lot of the time Hera found out and punished the children and the lovers, when usually Zeus tricked the ladies into it.
These are some weird things I had to notice about Greek gods. As well as these odd things, there are many cool things about them, I might post them in a different blog. So, now what do you think about the Greek myths and legends? Any other weird ways they act, or any story you find extra cool? ReplyDeleteThose gods seem really blood thirsty to me not. From what I've read the Greek created the gods to reflect human personalities. But, now maybe not so much. Those Greek Gods are very, very confusing. First they are sweet and caring, and then next they were bloodthirsty and ready to kill! If they were real they would be like most people these days. Sweet, crazy, weird, stalker-like and lots of different personalities. If they were real people would you want meet them?
