Don't worry, only the children work.

After a little research of a cruel life of Iqbal(that's the book title:Iqbal), I have found out that he has done a lot of great things to help end child labor. For example, when he ran away, he started an organization to attempt to catch some of the people that owns hundreds of children. I also saw that he got killed when he returned, because someone was angry at him, he was shot. Also, after more digging around the internet, I found an interesting article explaining some recent child labor, and this one is pretty darn serious. It basically explains how some of the few children are saved from their evil owners. I also did a little research about child labor in carpet factories, which the main character in Iqbal lives. It turns out that in 1992, about 90 percent of 1 million carpet workers were children. After that, carpet labor of children is illegal. However, people are still selling children and abusing them. But, how has Iqbal helped us today? Well, because of Iqbal, people are forming many organizations to search for people who own slaves(children). Also, people are also now aware that child labor is actually wrong. What else do you think Iqbal did to help stop child labor?

    I for one think it is great that more of these charities are forming to help find missing children. If the statistic in the article you hyperlinked to is right (one child abducted every 8 minutes, that turns into 7.5 children an hour, 180 a day, 1280 children a week, 37,800 a month, 453,600 a year. According to UNICEF india has a population of 1,236,686,700 and 434,782,100 of those are under 18 (35%). That means that 00.1% of India's youth population is kidnapped every year. That doesn't sound like much but one out of every 1,000 does not put the odds in ones favor. I would estimate that Okemos has about 5,000 students (600 at Chippewa, 600 at Kinawa, 1,200 at OHS and 300 at the four elementary give or take a few hundred). At the rate of 1 per 1,000 a year. We would lose five students a year. In between Kindergarten and Senior Year you would have 75 chances to be kidnap-odds nobody wants.
