Yes of course we live in a country with free speech. But to make extremely rude and inappropriate racist comments is taking the whole "free speech" thing too far. Especially if you're a grown adult and have enough brains to know right from wrong. Apparently Los Angles Clipper's NBA team's owner has a different opinion on if you can say racist things. Donald Sterling; owner of the NBA team was accused of saying extremely racist things several days ago. The NBA "top dogs" have decided to make Donald Sterling sell the team and pay a 2.5 Million dollar fee for his actions. To top it off they also concluded that he is banned from all NBA games forever. To make it worse for this team; basically all their sponsors have put a halt to their partnership with the Clipper's team.

In my opinion Mr. Sterling really needs to learn to keep his opinions to himself. Furthermore in my opinion it's not okay to be racist because they is really no need to judge people or act different because of a different skin color. I also think that people should not boycott NBA games because it was not the player's fault and they should not be punished for something that Donald Sterling did.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you absolutely. Racism is not needed at all. Those people didn't deserve being insulted like that and Sterling didn't need to insult the people he was making money off of. Why do we judge each other by hair color, skin, religion and even numbers people like to keep secret, like their weight and size. I feel it was completely unneeded and disgusting. Now sterling has lost a career that spent long enough to build up with a few words. We should just accept each other for who we are.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! Donald Sterling should be smart enough to know what to say, and not say! I think that if he couldn't at least think about what he was going to say, he shouldn't have said it at all! I read that Adam Silver, a man who stood up to Sterling, told him that he would do whatever he legally could, to punish him. Do you agree with Silver? I do because I think that Sterling should get what’s coming for him.
