Sri Lanka Holidays and Events
Sri Lanka has a vast spread history of many different multicultural festivals, ceremonies, and events. You know how there are only 10 annual holidays in the United States, but in Sri Lanka there are 25! The only ones that sound familiar to you are Independence Day and the beloved Christmas. (If you didn't know, it was also known as Christ's Mass...continue) Independence Day is on February 4th instead of our July 4th. Most of the events and festivals are very religious, colorful, and filled with excitement. For example, Diwali/ Deepavali is the festival of lights which celebrates lighting, home decoration, shopping, fireworks, prayers, gifts, feast, and sweets! What is your favorite holiday? It can be any holiday from any religion or country.
