Can you take the heat of Bhutanese cuisine?

Bhutanese cuisine is quite interesting to me. Some of the staples of the diet in Bhutan are red rice, buckwheat, and maize. Bhutanese cuisine is known for its spiciness. Rice is a big part of the Bhutanese diet. It is usually accompanied by one or  two sides with meat and veggies. The best sounding dish in Bhutanese cuisine to me is called Ema Datshi. It is the national dish of Bhutan. It is a spicy mix of chillis and the delicious local cheese known as Datshi. Variations include adding green beans, ferns, potatoes, mushrooms or swapping the regular cheese for yak cheese. I think it sounds good because I like things that are both spicy and I like cheese. There are many other dishes, most consisting of some type of spicy pepper, and they all sound quite tasty. If you follow the link you will find some dishes from Bhutan. Which sounds best to you?

Food of Sri Lanka

I did Sri Lanka for my country and I found a food called string hoppers made of pretty common ingredients but for some interesting ingredients are cardamom, Coriander, and cumin. I thought that it's actually pretty hard to do this post because many ingredients of the food are things you can get here.I found a festival that is called the new rice festival/ Aluth Sahal Mangallaya. The new rice festival is for farmers to gather their rice and to sacrifice it to a tooth relic in the temple of the tooth.I thought this was a hard topic to research, do you think it was to?

Yee Ping Festival of lights

In Thailand every twelve months when there is a new moon they have an incredible Yee Ping festival of lights. The celebration is held all through out Thailand and this years celebration will be held on Thursday, November 06, 2014.I think this celebration seems really interesting and breathtaking because what they do is light lanterns that are released at night which are displayed everywhere through houses and temples. However, that's not the only thing they do to celebrate they also have krathong which is an offering that has many different things including banana stalks and incents that they float down rivers. This seems like an incredible experience that maybe I would one day like to experience. Would you ever want to visit?

The Beauty In Lights!!!

After reading Noor's post  about Diwali, India's festival of lights, I was amazed. I  found out that during the celebration, you may see people in front of their doorway pouring colored sand on the ground. In a shape of a lotus flower to symbolize, welcome. Not only is the festival about bright colors it's about giving. You will see neighbors going door to door and handing out delicious treats also. Another interesting fact I found was that the festival does not last for one day, it last for four! Would you like to go?

Earn your Stripes

If you like watching people dressed up as tigers and dance for two days, then you're in luck! In Thrissur, India there is a festival where men dress up as tigers to dance, and the person who dances best is the winner of the festival. This "party" is held in September. The festival  may seem like a drug induced dream about bald men with tigers painted on their bodies dancing around, but in this city it's an art form that's been around for over 200 years. This type of dancing is called Pulikkali. These people aren't just going to a party store to pick up a tiger costume, they are shaving all of the hair off their bodies, painting themselves and waiting hours for it to dry. Seems like the kind of party blind people would get confused at, although blind people might get confused at every type of party. I'm not sure that is true because I've never been to a party with a blind person. I personally wouldn't want to do this because I dislike dancing and I wouldn't want to paint myself . So my question is would you want to shave yourself, then paint your body like a tiger, and dance around like a raging maniac?

A few strange foods from India

Although most people in India eat foods that most Americans find appetizing, there are a few Indian foods that I would never try even if I was starving. One is phan pyut. That is a rotten potato. People eat it with spices and consider it delicious. Another food they eat is called chaprah. This is made of red ants and their eggs. Many people in tribal communities eat dog meat. This is popular in some tribes and can be fried, smoked, curried, or dried. I could never eat that because I have had dogs as pets my whole life. Do you think you could eat dog meat or any of these foods? Would you be afraid you'd get sick?

Cricket

Cricket is a sport played by many people that live in India. Cricket is kind of like baseball but one thing that makes the game a little bit different is instead of in a diamond they are in a rectangle field but they are both run by innings and both try to get run but the bats are different one is round at the top but the cricket bat has a flat top so it can have a better hit. Would you ever play this game?

Foods

WOW, That's what I say every time I see the show bizarre foods. The food looks so so good and the way they make it just makes me want it even more because of the culture of the people that have been making for years and years it is just amazing .some day maybe I can travel to those places and try those foods. But I'll try to stay away from the heads and testicles from those animals because that kinda grosses me out a little bit. But I am willing to try some of the other foods.

Deadly Crop Season

In Marathwada, India, a farmer, Rajendra Haribhau Lomte, attempted suicide because his crops would not grow due to the harsh hail and rainstorms. He burned himself in a small village called Deololi. He was rushed to the hospital in Osmanabad. He is in very bad shape, and is 70% burned. With his terrible condition he was rushed to another hospital, Latur hospital. The villagers said that he went out to see nature, poured kerosene on himself, and then lit himself on fire. Personally, I think this situation is very sad. I don't know if that is normal to do that in Marathwada, but here in Okemos, it is not. Therefore, I think it is a little crazy. Would you ever be so upset about your mango trees not growing that you would kill yourself?

India in 100 words

India is filled with a lot of different, interesting things. There are lots of different foods, traditions, and other things that we don't typically see in the United States.Respecting animals has been a large part of Indian culture for a long time. Some of the foods in India include dal, baati, and naan. Of course there are more but those are some of them.  There are three national holidays in India Independence Day,  Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, and republic day. I happen to find India's culture and life style very interesting and hope to find more about it some day. What do you think about India's culture?

Strange foods in Asia

Asia has all kinds of different foods. Some foods in Asia I find crazy are spiders, cockroaches, grasshoppers, silk worms, raw herring, bull testicles, and many other exotic foods. Most of these foods are really common in other countries, but to us they're crazy. A few of those foods can only be found on those parts of the world because they are so strange or to difficult to get. I found that in certain parts of Asia they eat m any different types of food at a time, but very small servings of each food. I find it crazy that they eat so many crazy foods and they're like a everyday meal in Asia. Would you try any of those foods listed above?

Dundi Biyo!!!!!!!!!!!

The games children in Nepal for fun are interesting. A game I found really cool was Dundi Biyo, a game played with sticks, ironically they call it game of sticks. A game children often play to spend time with family and friends. These are the instructions; the person who starts the game off throws a stick in a hole with the main stick. Then, other players would run and try to catch the small stick ( with their bare hands) without dropping it on the ground. If the stick is caught then the first payer is out! If the stick isn't caught, the first player is still in the game. Almost like hunger games except you don't die! Although this game is very dangerous and must be played on an open field, it seems very fun and like a way to meet new friends.

Facts About Afghanistan People.

Qabli Pulao is the most popular dish of Afghanistan. Lamb kabab is a favorite of the Afghans. Afghan people are found of non-vegetarian meals. Food is eaten with right hand, using a kind of bread called nan as a scoop. Dari (Afghans version of Persia), is the most spoken language. There is also Pashtu, Uzbek, Tukmen, and 30 minor languages. Most people in Afghanistan are bilingual. The minor languages are Aimaq, Arabic, Ashkun, Azerbaijani, Balochi, Brahui, Darwazi, Gawar-Bati, Gujari, Hazaragi, Jakati, Kamviri, Karakalpak, Kazakh, Kirghiz, Malakhel, Mogholi, Pashayi, Sanglechi-Ishkashimi, Tangshewi, Tatar, Tirahi, Uyghur, Waigali, Wakhi, Warduji, and Wotapuri-KatarqaliDid you know that they have a festival for the new year called Nau Roz? Jeshyn-Afghan Day is their Independence Day and it's on August 19th, how many people know that?

This Post Is So Amazing, It Doesn't Need A Title!!! XD

                                                               Vaughan Festival

People in brightly colored traditional outfits. They dance, sing, perform and amaze everyone who is watching. This is only a little part of the Vaughan Festival. You may be wondering what the Vaughan Festival is. It is an event to express Asian culture, heritage and lifestyle. The listed activities in the festival are music, food, arts and crafts, games, health shows, and family activities. It also includes competitions, award ceremony's,dancing, and lucky draws. The festival is located in (of course) South Asia seen on the map. Wouldn't you love to have a day expressing your own culture?

Pretty Camels

Have you ever seen a camel in a beauty contest?  Well, in India you can see about 50,000 camels that may be pretty enough to enter a beauty contest. This is what you'll find in India's Pushkar Camel Fair.  If you would like to attend this festival, it is 5 days long and this year it is October 30 through November 6.

The festival involves camel trading and also religious rituals.  Fun events for the camels are being shaved, races, dressed up, beauty contests and trading of camels.  Here is a program from last year's fabulous event.  After the camel related activities, the festival moves on to the religous rituals.  Some of the rituals are bathing in holy water, a spiritual walk and temple dances.  But frankly, I would go for the camel beauty contest because they are such fine creatures.  Would you go to the Pushkar Camel Fair?

Diwali

In India there is a great festival called Diwali! What is Diwali you might ask? Well it is the festival lights and is celebrated though out all of India. It also is the festival of renewal and new life. To celebrate they light oil lamps called diyas and place them in gardens, front porches, and even on roofs. In more urban area they use smaller candle of neon light instead. Also they wear brand new clothes to show renewal because it is also the festival of renewal. Many people celebrate with food and sweets, and then at night they have a huge explosion of fireworks. Diwali can mean different thing to different people it just depends what part of India you're in. In northern India it celebrates the homecoming of Rama after defeating an enemy. In other parts in it celebrate the goddess of wealth, but everywhere it is the festival of light and renewal. After reading about Diwali i really want to go to India and celebrate because it sounds like a ton of fun, how about you?

India and It's Flaming Flavors

If you have ever tasted Indian cuisine, you will understand what I'm about to tell you and if you have never had Indian food it's okay because if you speak English you'll still understand what I am saying.  If you can't tell by now, I chose India.  Most Indians enjoy a salty, creamy, sweet, spicy, and bold flavorful meal.  My point is they like a variety of flavors on their meals.  Moving on from Indian Cuisine we go to festivals which is also an interesting topic.  India has many festivals but some popular ones are Diwali, Holi, Dussehranand Durga Puja, and Independence day.  Some activities that Indian people enjoy for entertainment are for example listening to music, dance, films/movies, art exhibitions, sculpture building, television and sports such as soccer and cricket.  India is interesting because of its rich culture, foods, and what people do for entertainment.  My question to you is if you have ever tasted a traditional Indian meal, did you like it and if not, would you honestly want to try it?

Would You Like Some Fish With That?

South Asia is home to many great foods, but the foods in Sri Lanka just look so irresistible compared to the rest. I would love to visit Sri Lanka just for these exquisite dishes! In Sri Lanka, curry is served with a lot of the wonderful dishes if the country. There's deviled sweet and sour fish curry, chili fish curry, jackfruit curry, even squid curry! The top restaurant in Colombo, Sri Lanka (ranked by Tripadvisor) is The Lagoon, known for it's exquisite seafood (which you can get with curried), which is said to be divine! If you could try any South Asian dish that you haven't had before, what would it be? I would try try the chili fish curry, because of how yummy it looks.

Odd Indian Cuisine

People in India eat some foods that seem odd and disgusting to us. An excellent example of their food is phan pyut, which is essentially rotten potatoes that are sometimes cooked with spices. People in India eat this quite a bit, but I would never eat rotten potatoes. They also eat dog meat, which is considering incredibly wrong here in the US. They do not eat cow meat, however, because they view cattle as special in the Hindu religion. Some of the other odd foods they eat are nahkham, chaprah, and khorisa. What do you guys think of the foods the people in India eat?

Pakistan Knows How To Throw A Party!!!!!!!!!

Pakistan is a sovereign country in South Asia with a population of 180 million people and still growing. Pakistan is surrounded by Afghanistan, Iran, India, and China which make them look like a small country but from what I read they know how to make their country look big when they throw a party. One of their festivals they celebrate is Shab-E-Barat. Shab-E-Barat is a religious festival featuring firework and light displays. Shab-E-Barat is celebrated throughout Pakistan whether you’re a kid or adult you participate in firing fire crackers and fire work. Another one of their largest festivals in Pakistan is Independence Day and Pakistanis commemorate this day because it celebrates the founding of Pakistan in 1947. The celebration involves fireworks, lighting, the processions and public meetings all businesses and school are closed for this big celebration. Although both America and Pakistan  celebrated Independence Day; Pakistan celebrates on August 14 and Americans celebrate on July 4. This is only because America was founded at a different time then Pakistan. Finally if you could join one celebration held in Pakistan out of Shab-E-Barat and Pakistan Independence Day which one would you choose?

Southeast Asian Food

Southeast Asia has many different foods to offer. One of the more popular foods is Nasi Goring.  Nasi Goring is a form of fried rice and is a very popular food for all social classes in Indonesia.  There are different versions of this dish, but it is often prepared the night before.  I would like to try Nasi Goring because it is often made with many different spices like garlic, chili and coriander.  In addition to spices, they add fried egg to the dish or they may add other foods to make it interesting.  I think that sounds delicious!  Furthermore, Nasi Goring sounds similar to fried rice found in Chinese restaurants here in the United States.  Would you ever travel to Indonesia to try the food there?

Soccer's a Sport, but it's Also Lives

Football (soccer) is a big sport all over Africa, but it gets even better in Zimbabwe. One academy, the Falls Academy in Zimbabwe holds football practice sessions for young boys. Many of the boys are orphans. The people responsible for the program are giving chances for those boys to get off the streets, and be in a safe environment. A lot if them don't even have shoes, because they can't afford them. Instead they play barefoot! It's also a chance for them to succeed, and have a future in football if they cannot afford education. Football is a great sport, and I am so happy these boys have a chance for a better future, and a fun thing to do in the meantime. I find this a great opportunity and pastime for the boys of Zimbabwe. If you were one of them, wouldn't you be thankful to this program?

Kids In India Know How To Have Fun

Children in India much like the rest of the world know how to have fun. Kids in India will play games like snakes and ladders which is basically the Indian version of Chutes and ladders. Or they play games such as Chess or Parcheesi. Another very famous board game in India is Carom. Carom requires two to four people in order to play. In India they like to play a lot of sports such as cricket which is somewhat like baseball. They also play sports like soccer, Kabbadi which is a wrestling game. India is a very unique place because they have games and sports that I've never even heard of that sound very fun.

Does Bangladesh have the cuisine you want?

The country I have chosen  for this blog post is Bangladesh. I want to write about Bangladesh, because of their bizarre cuisine. One dish from Bangladesh that I thought was very bizarre was the achaar pickle. The Achaar pickle is made of the most common South Asian fruits and vegetables from mango and lime. Other include cauliflowercarrotradish, palm heart, onion, tomato, and many others.  Another food that I found bizarre in Bangladesh was shorshe llish llish is a tropical fish and in Bangladesh they put it together with lots of mustard, it is also a traditional dish cooked by the natives of Bangladesh in the 1800's. Do you think you will ever want to try foods like these you should think about it? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hilsa_with_Mustard,_Bury_St_Edmunds,_4_Feb,_2013.jpg

SRI LANKA FOOD,CULTURE,AND FESTIVITY................AND MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Social Studies Post: Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka, a country that sits in the Indian ocean right off the southeast tip of India. Sri Lanka is full of culture.  They have many different foods, as well as drinks, that they enjoy. However, two in particular stood out to me. I first chose a beer called "toddy'', which is an alcoholic drink made out of fermented palm nectar. The second one that interested me was ''udowel", a deep fried coil of urauddal, and a rice flour mixture. Something else that intrigued me was the table etiquette used among sri lankans, during the meals, the women eat last. Also, sri lankans mostly dine with their right hand. Would you like to dine with the people of Sri Lanka?

Festival Of Lights

The festival of lights takes place in IndiaDiwali,or Dipawali, is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row of clay lamps that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects us from spiritual darkness. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians. I think this festival is really interesting because basically everyone in India does it. In this Video they talk about when is best to go , and wake up for the festival of lights.

Pearl of the Indian Ocean

For this blog post I chose to write about Sri Lanka because I was born there. There are two main festivals in Sri Lanka Vesak, and the Sri Lankan New Year. Vesak is a celebration to commemorate Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and death. During this celebration the children make special lamps, which are awesome, and the families all go to the temples located in each village or city. This festival falls on the May full moon day. The New Year is a huge event in Sri Lanka, there are many celebrations, and they make a ton of sweets and I am not exaggerating! This day/festival is in April because they go by solar calendars. One of the most important activities in Sri Lanka, that every child must play at least once, is cricket, of course! Some other things kids do in Sri Lanka for fun are going to the elephant orphanage, beaches, and playing with their friends outdoors. In Sri Lanka, there are various types of fruits and vegetables, most of them I have never seen in the U.S. Some of my favorite Sri Lankan foods are koththu roti, appam, indiappam, watalappam, dhal, Wada, and of course rice! Rice and curries are basically a staple food in most South Indian countries. Would you like to visit Sri Lanka when they are in the middle of a festival?

Indian Foods

In India, they have way different foods than us. I would like to learn more about their interests in food. In the North India area, they have cooked saag. (prepared with a vegetable known as hak) In the other part of Northern India, they're known for their breads. In West India, they have dishes such as vindaloo, duck baffad, sorpotel, and egg molie. In Eastern India, they enjoy some delicious rice and fish. Lastly, the most-common South Indian food is lamb stew. Personally,  I would like to visit India. It just seems very interesting and it is definitely on my list of places I want to see. Would you like to have a vacation to India? Why or not not?

Pakistani Food and Culture

In my opinion I think Pakistan is my favorite country in South Asia based of the foods they eat and the things they do for entertainment. Since most of Pakistanis are Muslim they can't eat Pork or drink alcohol. Because of that they often eat cuisines that contain the following, beef, chicken, fish, and vegetables. Another common type of cooking here is a very ancient type of cooking called Mughal, and ingredients include herbs, spices, almonds, and raisons. They do many different activities for fun such as riding decorated camels, playing cricket, and playing soccer. Overall I think that Pakistan has a lot of interesting food and things to do for fun, but go do some research and figure out what food sounds the best to you.

Carrom? What's that?

There is a very popular board name in the Southern Asia country of Nepal, it is called Carrom. Although popular, the rules structure is not very strict. There are a lot of variations but the whole plot of the game is to get nine of your opponent's pieces into your pocket; along with their queen. Even though the game is most popular in Nepal, this game is played all over South Asia. It is played in Southern Asia places such as India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In fact, it was founded in 1988 in the city of Chennai, India! A little more about the game is that it contains 20 pieces (including the striker) and that there is a red piece called the queen. In case you were wondering, a striker is the piece that the players of the game use to hit the other pieces off into the corners of the board. (You have to have the striker because then you can't play the game if you don't have it) I have found this game very different from anything I've seen before and I hope you all will search up more about it. If you would like to know how to play it click Carrom.

Would you be interested in learning more information on this game?

Weird Indian Foods

I was looking at country's foods to see which had the strangest, and India won that by a long shot. To start off there is a common favorite called,"phan pyut", this weird sounding dish is, a rotten potato with some spices. Apparently in India lots of the times potatoes aren't even harvested until they are rotten so they can make this dish. Don't you people love your dog (if you have one)? Well I'm am sad to say that if you bring yours to India it might be eaten. On the other note, I'm sure most of you folks are disgusted by frogs, and I'm happy to say this time that they eat their legs. So to wrap all this talk about this strange Indian food, if you had to have one of the three, what would it be?

A game called Cricket WHAT!?!?

Kids in India aren't much different than us Americans, other than they probably speak a different language. Many of the games they play there are very similar to what we play. One game is called cricket. I know what you might be thinking - a cricket to us is a little insect that jumps around a lot and makes weird noises, but to Indians this is a very popular game very similar to baseball. Many kids spend a lot of time this well-known ball and bat game. The rules to this game is there is two teams of 11 players and the goal is to get more runs than the other team. This game was originally played in Great Britain and then played in India 200 later after the British Empire. If you lived in India would you be interested in the game “Cricket”?

Indian Cuisine?!? Let me have a taste!

In South Asia, there are many delicious foods, but you can't beat the cuisine in India. The dish that will change your life is something called Biryani. Biryani is a beautiful rice dish because it has many spices, notably saffron, and chicken that is marinated. This is perfect for a family of five or less. Furthermore, another dish that will make your taste buds dance would be Gulab jammun. Small balls of dried milk, slow cooked and boiled in a sugar syrup. Equally important, when you've already had a delicious meal you have just enough room for desert. You just can't beat this good food! I would really like some Indian food right now, wouldn't you?

Food in Nepal?

There are many types of cuisine in Nepal. Some of the meals look delicious! Others...not so much. But you never know unless you try them, right? The most common meal in Nepal is dal (lentil soup), bhat (boiled rice), and tarkari (curried vegetables). This meal usually comes with achar (pickle). Nepalis don’t usually use silverware like forks and knives. They use their hands. Some traditional foods in Nepal are dhido, which is usually eaten in rural areas, and kinema (a non-salted soybean food of the eastern hills of Nepal. Jand is a traditional alcoholic beverage of Nepal. One of the more interesting foods in Nepal is tawkhaa. It is a jello/meat soup served cold. There are lots of even more bizarre foods in Nepal, are there any others weird foods you have heard about?

Nepal

Nepal is very diverse when it comes to ethnicity. The majority of these cultures go back to the traditions of religions such as Hindu, Buddhist, and many more. Most of the people living in Nepal don't eat beef. They don't eat beef for many reasons. A few of the reasons are because the cow is the national animal of Nepal, the Hindus worship the cow, and cow dung is used for cleansing purposes because it is considered pure. The typical meal in Nepal includes lentil soup, boiled rice, curried vegetables, and a pickle. Even though this meal sounds good, I don’t think I could go without beef, what do you think? Could you go without eating beef?

Sri Lanka Holidays and Events

Sri Lanka has a vast spread history of many different multicultural festivals, ceremonies, and events. You know how there are only 10 annual holidays in the United States, but in Sri Lanka there are 25! The only ones that sound familiar to you are Independence Day and the beloved Christmas. (If you didn't know, it was also known as Christ's Mass...continue) Independence Day is on February 4th instead of our July 4th. Most of the events and festivals are very religious, colorful, and filled with excitement. For example, Diwali/ Deepavali is the festival of lights which celebrates lighting, home decoration, shopping, fireworks, prayers, gifts, feast, and sweets! What is your favorite holiday? It can be any holiday from any religion or country.

Cricket!

Cricket is one of the most popular sports in India. Cricket spread at a great speed throughout Africa and Asia, thanks to the British empire. have played cricket before and think it is very fun. The game is a little bit complicated. There are six wickets in all which are little wooden poles hammered into the ground, three behind the batter and three behind the 'pitcher' in American terms. The pitcher throws the ball, the batter obviously tries to hit it and runs in between the sets of wickets till someone gets him out. Every time the batter get to the wicket it is a point and he is up to bat again. Cricket games last for hours and hours. Cricket is in fact the most popular sport in India, however, it is not the national sport. Would you like to give cricket a try?

Festival of Color

Have you ever heard of India's festival of color? (A.K.A Holi)It's a day long celebration where you get to splash people with colored water and powder without them getting mad(hence the name festival of color). J.K that's not what it's really about but, you still get to splash people with color. It's really a festival devoted to celebrating the coming of spring, unity, joy and many other things. The festival brings together different classes in unity and all social structure pretty much goes out the window so that everyone can celebrate together. The Holiday is celebrated by lot and lots of countries including the U.S, Pakistan, Bangladesh and really every country that Hindus live in. I wonder what it'd be like to attend one of these festivals.(also if anyone has please tell me about it.)

Food in India

There are lots of foods in India, from rice to stews to chilis. In northern India there is a place called Kashmir, most of the dishes are made with rice. In India the staple dish is rice with some fish. In south India they have lamb stew, fried prawns and more. They use chili to make the dishes taste better.

India's food!

India is an amazing country that has a lot of different types of food that you have never seen in your life! One of the dishes that are in India that are not familiar to us is this one dish called the saag. The saag is prepared with a green leafy vegetable called hak. They also make other foods like, lamb stew, fried prawns, dosas, and rice puttu. All of these foods and meals are dishes of things that we wouldn't even think of eating, but are very interesting to have knoladge about. Have you ever tried one of the things i just listed that are made in africa?

Indian Culture

India has one of the most interesting cultures, one reason being of its human population of 1.2 billion which is the second highest country population. There are almost 400 languages that are spoken, but only 22 are official. I think that this is amazing because the U.S.A. only has one official language. The religion is not quite as diverse as the languages because 84% of the population is Hindu. Now we get to the food they have, Indian cuisine has Arab, Turkish, and European influences with its use of herbs and spices. I probably wouldn't try any of this food, would you?

India's food

India's food is very interesting, there's a lot of unique flavors of dishes. If u go to north India you'll find more central Asian inspired dishes but if you go to west India there's more dessert influences. Popular    dishes would include duck and goat. Every you go in India there will be different types of culture and food influences, therefore it makes it really interesting. When you think about how amazing their culture is then u start to think about how their spices are unique in their own way, many people will like it and many people wont, that's kinda how things work. What do you thing about India's food and culture?

Color Color Color Color Colors of Holi :)

Holi, an Indian festival that dates back to ancient times is a festival celebrated across India. This festival was originally called Holika and is depicted in sculptures on old temple walls and in paintings dating back to the16th century. Probably the most well known part of  Holi is the colorful part! During this spring festival, colorful dyes and powders fill the air and children run around excited to smear dye on their friends. Now Holi is celebrated differently across India, but one things for sure, whether you're in Bengal, Delhi, Goa, or anywhere else in India, Holi is a great way to have fun and kick off spring! I know that I would love to participate in the festivities of Holi because I think it would be a ton of fun to get to run around with color filling the air. Would you find it fun to be covered in colorful powder?

A few of Indias foods

India has a lot of foods that we probably wouldn't think about eating. One of these food which I wouldn't try is Phan Pyut or in other words rotten potatoes eaten cooked or uncooked. Nahkham, which is dried fish, distilled ashes, and vegetables is highly popular among Garos in Meghalaya while it might seem completely different to us. Have you ever thought about trying dog meat? Well to the tribal people of Nagaland it is a widely popular and one of the main ingredients in their cuisine. After reading about a few of Indias weird and bizarre foods would you try any of them?

Indian Phestivals :)

India is home to many customs and religions. India also has many famous festivals, although I personally think that there are too many festivals in India that's your decision. Some include Durga Puja, Diwali, Chhath Puja, Holi, Christmas they also celebrate, Ratha Yatra, Eid, and many more. In many of these festivals different religions celebrate these together but not all are together some festivals are just for certain religions. One of the religions I hear about is Eid. Eid is a festival that is celebrated by Muslims in India. Eid ul-Fitr starts at the end of Ramadan and it is a three day celebration.

India

India is a very interesting country. It is the seventh largest country by mass and second largest by population with 1.2 billion people. Due to this large mass of people in the country there are many religions and cultures in India. HinduismBuddhismJainism, and Sikhism all originated in India. Along with these religions come many types of food. If you thought that when you are hungry in India, you just pull up to a McDonalds and order a triple meat, super duper, extra special hamburger, you're wrong. India is known for its spices and cuisine that is so unique to us Americans. The most important and popular ingredients used in Indian cooking recently are whole or powdered chili pepper, black mustard seed, cardamom, cumin, ginger, and garlic. These spices and ingredients give Indian food flavor and texture that makes it some of the best food in the world. I think that India is one of the worlds most fascinating countries in the world. Do you?

Yummy Yummy in my Tummy...or not

When you're hungry isn't your brain just full of images of food. Well, I just found a dish called Chicken Pilau which is from Pakistan, India. The reason why I want to try this dish is because by looking at all the information about it online, not only does it seem delicious but it contains some of my most favorite stuff inside like chicken and onions. It seems good so far right, but wait I'm not done here's one more fact; it contains lots of veggies and greens! Yep, you heard me right not only is it super yummy, it's also extremely healthy. Sadly they don't serve Chicken Pilau here in our school's cafeteria, local McDonald,  and Burger King. The list could go on forever and forever on where we can't find this supposedly delicious dish, but in Pakistan,India it seems to be everywhere! Now, I'm guessing I just made you hungry if you hadn't had some food yet, but after my next food choice you won't be, trust me. This next dish that I chose is something that I would never eat. I'd rather eat worms. yep worms. This dish is dog's meat, as in actually killing a dog and taking out their meat to cook and then sell. In India, many people eat dog meat the same way we would eat chicken. It's suppose to taste like chicken but with a distinct flavor. On the dish, they also put a dog's tail as a garnish. If you ever go to India to eat dog meat you can count me out, but if  you're planning to eat Chicken Pilau count me in! If you had to choose, would you rather eat dog meat or worms/ Have any of you ever had Chicken Pilau before, if you had what does it taste like?

Yum?

One of the many things of South Asia that I am interested in is the food! In places like South Asia, food is very different from American food so it can be a lot more gross or good! Or better yet, different! After looking at some South Asian dishes, I found that in my opinion I would like to try “String Hoppers” (and no, I did not pick this dish because it had the word “Hopper” in it.) because String Hoppers are streamed rice flour noodles that can be eaten in a variety of ways and are eaten with sugar and coconut milk. It might seem a little bit weird but that’s what is to be expected. Thus being me to my question, would you try this dish?

India cultures and traditions.

India has many different cultures. One culture goes back 5,000 years ago. This culture is called "Sa Prathama Sanskrati Vishvavara". The most spoke languages in India is Hindi and English. The religions of India are Hinduism, Buddhism, Muslim, Christianity, and Sikhs. The food is an important part of the culture because a lot of traditions come from it. Wheat and  Basmati rise are two very important on the  Indian diet. India has also a lot of spices with there food. India had a very unique and cool culture and many tradition I think, what do you think about India?

Bangladesh Festivals

In Bangladesh there are as many festivals as days in the year. All of these celebrations, festivals, and fairs are apart of the culture in this region. The amount of festivals in Bangladesh is honestly overwhelming. There is PAHELA BAISHAKH which is a sort of a Bengali new years. On this day the whole country is filled with colorful steamers and fun tournaments. Although the most popular is in Dhaka where at their Fine Arts School people compete in competition to make paper animals and mask figures. I think this is my personal favorite. But don't think that I am going to stop there. There is so many more holidays and festival that the people in Bangladesh celebrate. Including Eid-ul-fitr, Eid-ul-azha, Durga Puja, National mourning day, and even Christmas. What is you favorite Bangali festival?
