Diwali is India’s biggest and most celebrated holiday. Sometimes called Dipawali, this festival is named after the clay lamps placed outside of peoples houses to symbolizes the inner light that protects us from the darkness. Diwali takes place in Late October or early November, and celebrates the last harvest of the year before winter. During Diwali, people worship the god Lakshmi to hope for a good financial year. There are five days of Diwali, each one with a different cultural tradition to takes place. Each region of India celebrates a different cause, but they all celebrate the victory of good over evil. When does Diwali start next year?

Diwali sounds like a really fun event and I would really want to experience it. I looked into Diwali a little more and I found out that the lamps are called diyas. I also learned that they celebrate with lots of food and tons of sweets! I didn't know that it was celebrated in October and November so I'm glad that you added that in there. Diwali sounds like Thanksgiving, Valentines Day, and The 4th of July all rolled into five days. Would you like to experience the celebration of Diwali?
