But First, Let Me Get Some #PRIVACY

Donald Sterling's recent racist remarks have gone viral. The billionaire has had people all over responding, even his team wearing their warm-ups inside out to hide the logo. I personally am not a racist, although I do not think this is the way people should react when a tape that was a PRIVATE conversation. I do think that the comments expressed in the leaked recording all awful, but people shouldn't go as far as banning him from the NBA, mostly considering California's (his residency) two-party consent law, which states that the recorded parties must acknowledge that they are being recorded, if not the recording is illegal. Whoever recorded the conversation may go to jail for the recording that has caused the billionaire so much attention. I think that everyone should be disgusted, I personally find his remarks appalling. In this day and age we need to watch our mouths, because our words can be used against us. Disgusting comments like that will be used against you, but it may not always be used in a legal way. Do you think that people should of reacted this way? Even if it is put out in an illegal way.

  1. I really don't think that people should have reacted this way because of the illegal and racist acts and comments. Today, it's NOT OKAY to be racist; everybody should be treated as equals. I understand that some people could be angry because of people doing that, but there's no need to retaliate, just try to get the person to stop. I feel like Donald Sterling should be banned for a short period of time, but not for his entire LIFE.

  2. If the two-party consent law does not allow recording without both parties consenting. How does the FBI arrest people? Yes, our words can be used against us. "You have the right to remain silent. Any word you say can and will be used against you in a court of law." I think that using recording like this should be used, and that recording as evidence in a court is allowed. There is a difference between viral and just news. Donald Sterling is from the news so naturally the parents of everyone who watches news, and then the children of those parents are informed from their parents. Viral is specifically on the internet. Viral means "an image, video, advertisement, etc., that is circulated rapidly on the Internet." There is some about this on the internet. But our information is mostly from word of mouth or the news. Finally, Matthew, please change the #Privacy.

  3. We should think about this in another way. The time of Martin Luther King Jr. was not long ago. Donald Sterling is around 80 years old. He was alive in 1930, around the time of WWI and WWII, it is also the time before the civil rights movement. so he was up to 20 years old living in a society in which Africans were heavily discriminated, until just the beginning of the civil rights movement. He was raised to hate Africans.

  4. I think the fans acted in an appropriate fashion to the situation; Donald Sterling made racist remarks and should pay the price for it! Although I do agree with you on the issue of the recording being illegal...although Donald Sterling would for sure have NEVER said anything racist while knowingly being recorded, I'm sure, and then we would never know his true colors, it was still wrong to record. Both parties are at fault, I'd say; Sterling for being a repulsive, racist bum, and the recording party for, well, recording him without his consent. What do you think? Will the recorder of the (disgusting) comments made by Donald Sterling be punished for his illegal taping? Or will he go without punishment for exposing what a true PIG Sterling is?
