I realize that previously Jon A. did a post about the Kopanang mine in the Free State province of South Africa. Jon was amazed by the number of people that worked there but I am utterly astonished. The Kopanang Mine has 12,500 people from Marikana employed. There is normally two different minerals found, Baryte and Gold. Gold is used in wires, alloys, and highly detailed shapes. And Baryte is used in wells, as weight in paper, cloth and rubber. This mine uses an underground mining method. Considering the prices of these minerals but the dangerousity of the job do you think you want to mine here?
