To start off my blog, I just want to make it clear I am not a sports fan and do not know most the rules, season times, or players. I say this because it may effect my blog.
From what I read a coach/owner (not sure if both), Donald Sterling, had a private conversation with his girlfriend and in it made a racist comment. I am not sure how the public found out, but they did. Because of this comment he is now banned from the NBA and everything to do with his team besides owning it.
While I think what he said was both racist and taking away his girlfriend's rights (not really but he told his girlfriend to not do something) it was none of the public or presses business and I am curious how this leaked. He was having a private conversation and now he is in huge trouble because of an opinion he deserves to have. I think that this is to big a punishment for a personal opinion in a private conversation. While I and many people disagree with it, there are still thousands of people with the same opinion and they do not get in trouble. In my opinion, this was an invasion of privacy and taking away his freedom of speech.
I am not saying I like his opinion though, I think it was quite rude and someone should tell him to knock it off. He gets his own opinion but, he shouldn't tell his girlfriend no to bring her friends if they are black.
In all it was rude but he has a right to his own opinion, he should be let into the NBA again with a warning or smaller punishment.
